In just five hours, you'll visit four spectacular waterfalls hidden in lush tropical rainforest, walk through traditional Chagga banana and coffee farms, and meet local families who have lived on these slopes for generations.
Book This TripYour guide and driver collect you from your hotel in Moshi, Arusha, or Marangu at 8:30 AM. The scenic drive to Marangu Gate takes approximately 45 minutes, passing through vibrant Chagga villages, terraced banana farms, and patches of montane forest.
At Marangu Gate, your local Chagga guide leads you along well-maintained trails that descend through dense tropical rainforest. The trail connects four distinct waterfalls, each with its own character. The first waterfall plunges into a natural swimming pool surrounded by giant tree ferns and moss-covered rocks. The fourth and tallest waterfall drops over 80 metres into a deep, mist-filled gorge.
After the waterfall hike, your guide leads you uphill into a traditional Chagga village where a local family welcomes you to their homestead. You'll tour their banana and coffee farms, learn how the Chagga people developed sophisticated irrigation systems using volcanic streams from Kilimanjaro. The family demonstrates traditional coffee preparation and you'll sample banana beer and homemade banana bread.
After the village visit, enjoy a scenic walk back through the Chagga villages to Marangu Gate, passing terraced farms and small homesteads with views across the plains. Your driver is waiting at the gate for the return transfer to your hotel. You'll arrive by approximately 1:30 PM.

Pickup is at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Moshi, Arusha, or Marangu. Return is approximately 1:30 PM. The trip fits easily into a morning schedule, leaving your afternoon free.
Easy to moderate. The waterfall trail involves approximately 4 km of walking on forest paths with moderate downhill sections. No technical skills required, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Walking sticks are provided.
The first waterfall has a natural swimming pool. Swimming is optional — bring a swimsuit and towel if you'd like to take a dip. The water is cold but refreshing, especially on warm days.
All trails are maintained and marked. Your local Chagga guide carries a first aid kit and communication device. The waterfall gorge is roped off for safety — please stay behind barriers at all times.
Full payment is required at the time of booking. We accept bank transfer, mobile money (M-Pesa), and card (3% fee). Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

Year-round destination. The waterfalls are most impressive during the rainy seasons (March–May and October–December) when water levels are high. Dry season (June–October) offers easier trail conditions.
Lunch is not included in this trip. Your guide can recommend local restaurants in Moshi or Marangu for after the trip. Bottled water is provided throughout the hike.
