Arrive at the Chemka Hot Springs entrance, a short walk through a tropical pathway leads you to the first of several natural pools. The water is a stunning turquoise blue, heated naturally by underground geothermal activity fed from the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Towering fig trees with massive buttress roots frame the pools, creating natural shade and a jungle-like atmosphere.
Swim laps in the main pool, float idly with the current, or simply sit on a rock and let the warm water wash away stress. The springs consist of several connected pools — explore them all or settle in your favourite spot. The surrounding vegetation is lush and vibrant: towering palms, tangled vines, and ancient fig trees create a canopy that filters the sunlight into dappled patterns on the water.
When you're fully relaxed and ready, change back into your dry clothes and begin the scenic drive back to Arusha. The return journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Your guide will drop you off at your Arusha hotel or a restaurant of your choice for lunch, arriving around 1:30 PM.
