Terms and Conditions

OVERVIEW

These Terms and Conditions apply to all tours booked with Bush Lion Tours, a family-owned tour company in Moshi, Tanzania.

These Terms & Conditions form the contract between you and Bush Lion Tours. Please read them carefully. By booking a tour with us, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

If you book a tour for a group, you accept these Terms and Conditions on behalf of everyone in the group, including minors and people with disabilities. This means all group members agree to these Terms and Conditions. The person who makes the booking is the main contact for the group.

1. Booking & Payment Terms

Bookings shall be considered confirmed only when the booking is accompanied by a deposit of $100, whose receipt has been acknowledged by our bank. The remaining balance must be paid before the tour begins.

2. Cancellation Policy:

The refund amount depends on when you notify us about the cancellation:

  • $100 deposit per person: Non-refundable but transferable to other dates.
  • Standard cancellation fees for Kilimanjaro and safari packages:
    • No fee if you cancel 60–90 days before the tour.
    • 20% fee if you cancel 30–59 days before the tour.
    • 40% fee if you cancel 8–29 days before the tour.
    • No refund if you cancel within 7 days of the tour.

If partner lodges or airlines impose higher cancellation penalties than those listed, the refund will be adjusted accordingly. Bank fees for refund transfers are deducted from the final amount.

3. Visa:

All visitors need a visa for Tanzania. We recommend getting your visa in advance, but you can also get it at the airport when you arrive in Tanzania.

4. Climate:

The climate is hot and sometimes humid. From December to March, the northeast monsoon makes it hot and humid. Heavy rains occur in April and May. The coolest and driest period is from June to October. Lesser rains fall in November. Temperatures range between 25°C and 35°C, with annual rainfall around 20mm.

5. Shopping Trips:

Our drivers/guides will only stop at shops recommended by Bush Lion Tours. We provide a free escort for our guests on shopping trips to offer recommendations and help save money.

6. Medical Conditions:

All clients must provide truthful medical information when booking a tour. Clients are responsible for checking if they are suitable for the tour. Everyone should consult their doctor to ensure they are fit for the tour.

7. Liability:

Bush Lion Tours acts as an agent for hotels, transportation services, and facilities provided by other companies. We are not responsible for delays, loss, damage, injury, accidents, or changes to itineraries caused by the negligence of any service provider.

8. Baggage allowance:

Please limit baggage to 15kg per person for domestic flights within East Africa. Soft-sided luggage or duffel bags are best for storage on safari vehicles and aircraft in Africa. Large suitcases exceeding 24″ x 17″ x 7″ cannot be accommodated and should be avoided. Baggage and personal items are carried at your own risk throughout the tour; we strongly recommend baggage insurance for all travelers.

9. Force Majeure:

The company is not responsible for delays or non-performance due to ‘force majeure’ events. These are unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, such as war, civil unrest, terrorism, strikes, natural disasters, severe weather, fire, and similar events. We take all necessary precautions, but we cannot accept liability or provide compensation in such situations.

11. Insurance:

We strongly recommend that you get comprehensive insurance coverage for all possible risks, with sufficient coverage.

12. Law:

This company’s contract follows Tanzanian law. Each party agrees to use Tanzanian courts to settle any issues related to this contract.
