Your journey begins in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. You will drive for about 2 to 3 hours through the scenic landscapes of West Kilimanjaro, passing small villages, open savannah, and views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Upon arrival at Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village, you will receive a traditional Maasai welcome with songs and dances from the local warriors. After a short introduction, a Maasai guide will take you through the village to explain the history, culture, and daily life of the Maasai people.
You will visit a traditional Maasai house (boma) where you will learn how these houses are built using natural materials such as mud, sticks, and cow dung. The guide will also explain Maasai family life, livestock traditions, and the importance of cattle in Maasai culture.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a guided nature walk around the surrounding plains where you can learn about traditional Maasai medicine plants, wildlife tracks, and survival skills used by the Maasai in the wild.
Later in the evening, you will return to the village for a traditional Maasai dinner prepared with local ingredients. Around the campfire, Maasai warriors will share stories, songs, and cultural performances, giving you a deeper understanding of their traditions and way of life.
