If you cannot find a direct flight from your country, connecting flights are widely available. Many European travelers fly first to larger international hubs like Nairobi in Kenya, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, or Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. From these cities, there are regular short flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport. This option gives you more flexibility with airlines, schedules, and sometimes even lower ticket prices. After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, most climbers continue by road to Moshi or Arusha. Moshi is the closest town to the mountain, offering a relaxed atmosphere and stunning views of Kilimanjaro from many corners of the city. Arusha, slightly farther away, is also a popular starting point, especially for those combining a Kilimanjaro climb with a safari in Serengeti, Ngorongoro, or Tarangire National Park. Transfers from the airport are easy to arrange, with professional drivers and tour companies ready to welcome visitors.
Since Kilimanjaro is a popular destination, flights from Europe can fill up quickly, especially during peak climbing seasons from June to October and December to February. Booking early not only guarantees better prices but also gives you more options for direct or convenient connections. It is also important to make sure your passport, visa, and vaccinations are ready before traveling.
