Arusha National Park is a hidden gem located just 45 minutes from Arusha town. It is a perfect destination for a day trip and offers a mix of wildlife, beautiful landscapes, and outdoor activities. Unlike other parks, Arusha National Park allows walking safaris and canoeing, giving you a close-up experience with nature.
The park is home to Mount Meru, the second-highest mountain in Tanzania, the stunning Momella Lakes, and the Ngurdoto Crater. While you won’t find lions here, the park is full of giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, flamingos, monkeys, and even colobus monkeys.
This day trip is ideal for travelers who have limited time but still want to enjoy a real safari experience near Arusha.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha around 8:00 AM and drive to Arusha National Park. After entry formalities, your adventure begins with a game drive. Enjoy views of Mount Meru and the open plains with herds of grazing animals.
Around noon, you will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, possibly near the beautiful Momella Lakes while watching flamingos.
After lunch, continue with either a short walking safari with a park ranger or a canoeing tour on Momella Lake (optional and extra cost). Then, drive through the Ngurdoto Crater viewpoint before heading back to Arusha.
Arrive back in Arusha in the late afternoon, around 4:30 PM.
