This 7-day safari will take you deep into the heart of Serengeti during the Great Migration season. You will witness the amazing river crossing at the Mara River and explore Ngorongoro Crater. Expect to see large herds of wildebeests, zebras, crocodiles, big cats, and the Big Five. Each day brings new landscapes and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
You will be welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport by our professional driver-guide holding a signboard with your name. From here, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Take your time to relax after your international flight and enjoy dinner at the lodge.
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha. You’ll drive for about 2 hours to Tarangire National Park, a place famous for its huge elephant herds and giant baobab trees.
On your game drive, look for:
Elephants moving in families
Lions relaxing under trees
Giraffes eating from treetops
Zebras, antelopes, and many birds
During the dry season, animals gather near the Tarangire River, giving you great photo opportunities. In the evening, drive to your lodge near Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you’ll begin a scenic drive toward Serengeti National Park. Pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might see Maasai people and their herds.
Once you enter Serengeti, enjoy your first game drive across the endless plains. Look out for:
Wildebeests and zebras on the move
Lions resting on kopjes (rocky outcrops)
Cheetahs scanning the horizon
Elephants and many birds
Dinner and overnight at a lodge or tented camp in Central Serengeti.
Today after breakfast, you’ll drive north toward the Mara River, the heart of the Great Migration during July–October. This region is where thousands of wildebeest and zebras cross the crocodile-filled river.
Along the way, enjoy game drives and spot:
Migration herds moving in long lines
Lions and leopards following prey
Beautiful views and peaceful plains
Arrive in Northern Serengeti in the afternoon and settle in at your luxury tented camp.
Another full day to enjoy the incredible wildlife action around the Mara River. Mornings and evenings are perfect for game drives, when animals are most active.
Relax during the warm afternoon or choose to go for a short walking safari (optional). Your guide will help you track animal movements to increase your chances of seeing another river crossing.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you’ll drive back south to Central Serengeti, game driving along the way. Look for predators like cheetahs or hyenas that often follow the migrating herds.
This day allows you to explore different habitats and landscapes, including rock outcrops (kopjes) where lions love to rest.
Enjoy a sunset game drive before heading to your camp or lodge in central Serengeti.
After breakfast, begin your drive out of Serengeti with a final morning game drive. Look for the last wildlife sightings including elephants, buffalos, and hyenas.
You’ll pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and arrive at your lodge on the crater rim in the late afternoon. Enjoy sunset views over the crater and a relaxing dinner.
Overnight in Ngorongoro Highlands.
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will drive down 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most special places in Africa. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to many animals, including the Big Five: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard.
Inside the crater, you will enjoy a full morning game drive. You may see:
Lions resting or hunting
Hippos in the water
Zebras, wildebeests, and gazelles
Hyenas and jackals
And if lucky, the rare black rhino
You will also visit a beautiful lake inside the crater, where you may see flamingos and many birds.
At midday, you will stop for a picnic lunch at a safe and scenic spot, often near a hippo pool.
After lunch, begin your drive back to Arusha, enjoying the beautiful views along the way. Depending on your travel plan, you will be dropped off at your hotel in Arusha or transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home.
This is the end of your safari journey, but we hope the memories of the animals, nature, and people of Tanzania will stay with you forever.
