Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival In Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet and greet with your local guide and transfer to your accommodation in Arusha town. Check in, relax, and rest to recover from your journey.
Optional: If time permits and you’re not too tired, explore the vibrant local markets or take a short city tour in Arusha.
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Start your adventure early in the morning from Arusha, heading towards Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, embark on a game drive through the park, renowned for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Spot diverse wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot within the park, taking in the scenic surroundings. Continue the game drive in the afternoon, exploring different areas of the park. As the sun begins to set, make your way to a nearby Motto Cottages Lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight stay, experiencing the authentic safari atmosphere.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, depart for Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions and breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley. Explore the park’s lush forests and alkaline lake, home to flocks of flamingos and other water birds. Later, retire to your lodge or camp for a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart Lake Manyara and journey towards the world-renowned Serengeti National Park. En route, pass through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, catching glimpses of the stunning Ngorongoro Crater from a distance. Arrive in the Serengeti for lunch at your lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in this vast savannah, known for its annual wildebeest migration. Dinner and overnight at your lodge in the heart of the Serengeti.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Continue your exploration of the Serengeti with full-day game drives, following the movements of the wildebeest migration if the timing is right. Marvel at the dramatic predator-prey interactions and soak in the unparalleled beauty of the African savannah. Return to your accommodation for dinner and relaxation under the starlit sky.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Depart the Serengeti after breakfast and head towards the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Descend into the caldera, one of the largest intact volcanic craters in the world, for an unforgettable game drive. Marvel at the diverse wildlife thriving within this natural amphitheater, including black rhinos, cheetahs, and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot before ascending to the crater rim for panoramic views and overnight at a lodge overlooking the crater.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
On your final day, enjoy a leisurely breakfast with views of the crater before beginning your journey back to Arusha. En route, visit a Maasai village to learn about their traditional way of life and cultural heritage. Arrive in Arusha by late afternoon, where your safari adventure concludes with fond memories and perhaps plans for your next African safari.
