Full-Day Itinerary
Morning: Materuni Waterfalls
Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. You’ll travel to the lush village of Materuni, located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local guide who will take you on a scenic hike to the Materuni Waterfalls.
The hike to the waterfalls is approximately 45 minutes and takes you through stunning landscapes, including coffee plantations, banana groves, and lush rainforest. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating insights about the local flora, fauna, and the Chagga culture.
When you reach the falls, you’ll be greeted by the sight of water cascading down a 70-meter drop into a clear pool below. Take a moment to enjoy the view, take photos, and even dip your feet in the cool water.
After the hike, you’ll visit a local village to experience a traditional coffee ceremony. Learn how coffee is grown, harvested, and processed. You can even participate in roasting and grinding the beans, followed by a tasting of freshly brewed coffee.

Afternoon: Chemka Hot Springs
After lunch, you’ll head to the Chemka Hot Springs, a hidden gem nestled in a picturesque oasis. The drive takes about an hour and a half, offering you a chance to rest and take in more of Tanzania’s stunning landscape.
Upon arrival at Chemka Hot Springs, you’ll be amazed by the crystal-clear, naturally heated waters. The hot springs are surrounded by lush vegetation, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. Here, you can swim, float, or simply soak in the warm waters, which are believed to have therapeutic properties.
Take your time to relax and enjoy the unique experience of swimming in these geothermal springs. The warm water and serene environment provide the perfect end to your adventurous day.
Evening: Return to Hotel
As the sun begins to set, you’ll leave Chemka Hot Springs and head back to your hotel. The journey back offers another opportunity to enjoy the Tanzanian countryside. You’ll arrive at your hotel in the early evening, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated from your day of exploration and relaxation.
